KUCHING, March 13: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jafaar has been installed as the patron of Malaysia Scouts Association of Sarawak Branch effective March 13, 2024.

The National Chief Scout of Malaysia Major General (Rtd) Prof Dato Dr Mohd Zin Bidin said the installation was made pursuant to Article 11(2) of the Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR) of the Scouts Association of Malaysia.

“Tun Pehin Sri, who had been the chairman of Kuching District Scout Council from 1974 till 1992 and the Chief Scout Commissioner of Sarawak from 1993 till 2009, would surely boost the scout movement in Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole.

“Tun Pehin Sri is a patron who holds a woodbadge in scouting within the country,” he said in a media statement today.

Mohd Zin highlighted this when met by reporters after paying a courtesy call on Wan Junaidi to hand over the instrument of installation and to present him with the highest national scout award, the Bintang Semangat Padi Emas, at the Astana Negeri Sarawak here, today (March 13).

Among those present were the Malaysia Scout Council (MSC) deputy president Dato Haji Ahmad Shazilly Ismail Bakti, vice president Datuk Zamani Thamby Chek, honorary treasurer Tan Sri Abdullah Taib and Sarawak Scout Council (SCC) president Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom. — DayakDaily
