MIRI, March 13: A man from Miri, working as a supervisor in a private company, tragically lost his life savings of RM53,000 after falling victim to a nonexistent personal loan advertisement scam.

Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed receiving a report on the incident on March 12.

“The victim, in his 40s, was scrolling through Facebook when he came across a fake loan advertisement that caught his eye,” ACP Alexson stated.

Investigations revealed that the victim made a total of 12 online transactions to the suspect, believing he was securing a loan.

However, he became suspicious when the suspect continuously requested additional payments.
