MIRI, Feb 13: “If the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) speaker or Sarawak government feels that I don’t deserve that money (remenuration as Pujut assemblyman) , please write me a letter,” states former Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon.

Dr Ting said this at a press conference earlier this afternoon at the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Pujut headquarters here.

Also present was DAP Sarawak secretary-cum-Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak secretary Senator Alan Ling.

On Feb 11, DUN Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar during a press conference in Kuching said that DUN will demand Dr Ting return the remuneration he was paid as a member of the august House after the Federal Court ruling which disqualified him as Pujut assemblyman.

Meanwhile, Dr Ting described the move by the DUN speaker seeking Dr Ting to pay back his salary as unprofessional.

“It is disgraceful and embarrasing as a Sarawak government or a Speaker, I feel embarrassed to be part of this, my State Legislative Assembly (DUN) acting like a child.”
