KUCHING, June 30: A shocking video showing a group of men violently attacking a convenience store in Batu Kawa has gone viral on social media, sparking online buzz over the brazen act.
The incident, believed to have occurred around 9.30pm last night (June 29), showed at least 16 men storming into the premises, throwing chairs, smashing window panes, and vandalising shelves and displays inside the shop in what appeared to be a coordinated and deliberate assault.
Padawan district police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi confirmed the incident and said the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with weapons.
“So far, police have arrested three suspects aged between 24 and 33. All were remanded this morning for four days to facilitate investigation,” he said in a statement today.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the attack.
Authorities have yet to confirm the motive behind the incident. Police are now working to identify and locate the remaining suspects seen in the video.
Members of the public with relevant information are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation.
The Batu Kawa shop incident is believed to be the third in a series of public disturbances in Kuching over the past three days.
On June 28, a video surfaced showing a female customer shouting at a man while shopping at a supermarket in 6th Mile.

This was followed by a brawl between two men at a supermarket along Jalan Tabuan Dayak on June 29, which also drew attention on social media.
