SRI AMAN, Aug 14: Police recently tracked down a Kancil driver and slapped him with a fine for reckless driving along Jalan Sri Aman-Betong on Saturday morning (Aug 12).
According to a report by the Sarawak Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT), the driver was caught red-handed after the dashcam of another road user recorded his actions.
The video was initially uploaded on Sarawak Roads Update’s Facebook page and garnered over 13,000 viewers and 58 shares.
In the video, the Kancil driver can be seen exiting a junction onto the main road and directly entering the right lane on which the video’s owner is driving.
Thankfully, the video’s owner broke in time and avoided crashing into the Kancil.
The video sparked negative comments towards the Kancil driver, who endangered other road users.
“Following some intel, the Sri Aman branch managed to hunt down the driver and went to his residence at around 9.50am the next day (Aug 13).
“The driver admitted to the offence under Rule 8(1) of the Traffic Rules 166/59 for not obeying the right lane when entering the main road.
“A fine was issued to the person sued (OKS),” it said in the report uploaded on JPST’s Facebook page today.
