Various events lined up to celebrate Gawai Dayak at La Promenade Mall

A Mazda roadshow, new menu items, and an anti-drug campaign with Hope Place and Bodhi Counselling are among the events lined up in La Promenade Mall in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak festival.

KUCHING, May 27: La Promenade Mall has lined up various events in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak celebration starting this week until June 5.

Hock Seng Lee (HSL) sales manager Sharon Chong said among the events are the Mazda roadshow, a new food exhibition, and a unique anti‐drugs campaign with Hope Place and Bodhi Counselling.

“Rhino Automart is displaying two best‐selling Mazda cars inside La Promenade Mall.

“Drop by our exhibit to view and experience the new Mazda CX‐5 and Mazda 3. Both cars are new models that look fantastic, offering great performance and fuel efficiency,” she said in a statement today.

The mall has also extended the highly successful ABSTRACT 2022 art exhibition.

Sarawak Artists Society president David Chew said they gladly accepted La Promenade Mall’s invitation to extend until after Gawai so that more can enjoy the show.

He said the art exhibition had been a success, attracting many art lovers and collectors, and a dozen out of 33 pieces at ABSTRACT 2022 have been sold since the show opened on May 14.

“We’re delighted to have received a wide range of visitors from VIPs like Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting to school students and families,” he said.

La Promenade’s eateries are also introducing new menu items this festive season.

NOMS is adding a Surf n Turf burger consisting of Cajun butter shrimp and an Australian beef patty. However, the item is time‐limited, starting this week, and Black Bean Coffee & Tea is also introducing a new Green Tea Espresso on June 1.

According to café manager Syarifah Norfatimah Wan Sekeran, it’s a combination of finely ground Japanese green tea leaves and one shot of espresso.

“We serve it ice cold. It’s beautiful. We have the most amazing Ayam Pansuh with fragrant coconut rice for Sarawak’s largest festive season.

“We’re also offering Ayam Kunyit and the ‘Tepung Bungkus’. Our version of Tepung Bungkus is a family recipe of one of our baristas. We make sure everything we offer is authentic,” she said.

Finally, the mall is collaborating with Bodhi Counselling and Hope Place to host the Anti Drugs Education Programme as part of its corporate social responsibility programme, ‘Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds’.

The awareness campaign includes games, real‐life stories sharing sessions, and talks on healthy living. The charity event is free for all.
