Van, SUV drivers injured in Sibu-Bintulu road accident

KUCHING, March 16: A collision between a van and a Toyota Harrier on the Sibu-Bintulu Road near Rumah Sri Kenangan this afternoon left both drivers injured.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the accident occurred at approximately 2.20pm.

The van, carrying eight people including the driver, and the Toyota Harrier, with five occupants, were involved in the crash.

The van driver sustained a broken right leg and was trapped in the vehicle.

Firefighters from the Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Station, used rescue tools to extricate him before handing him over to medical personnel for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota Harrier sustained minor injuries, while all other passengers from both vehicles were unharmed.

Emergency responders, including police (PDRM) and the Ministry of Health (KKM), were present at the scene.

Bomba personnel also carried out flushing operations to clear debris before returning to the station. — DayakDaily
