MIRI, Aug 30: Miri City Council (MCC) mayor Adam Yii reminds operators of all food outlets including those in MCC’s cooked food centres, private food courts, restaurants, bistro and food shops under the jurisdiction of MCC to obtain Letter of Confirmation certifying full vaccination of their food handlers before they can operate and carry out food preparation.
“Such compulsory requirement is being imposed by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in conjunction with the commencement of Phase 2 of National Recovery Plan (NRP) as from July 14, 2021,” said Yii in a statement today.
He said in connection with the decision, MCC through its Public Health Section on July 19, 2021 had issued notice to operators of all food premises in requiring them to comply with such requirements.
Prior to this, the Council had also carried out an exercise to assist in speeding up the process of vaccination among the food operators and food handlers.
“It is noted that the majority of the food premises have accordingly complied with such requirements,” said Yii.
He reminded that before the issuance of Letter of Confirmation (Surat Perakuan Vaksinasi Covid-19) through the Public Health Section of MCC, the operators and their food handlers should first of all, ensure full vaccination against Covid-19.
The food operators or food handlers should keep a copy of the MySejahtera vaccination certificate or digital copy of vaccination certificate as evident upon request for verification by Public Health personnel.
The operators of the food premises are then required to submit such information in a form provided by the Council (Borang Pengesahan Bagi Maklumbalas Vaksinasi Covid-19).
“In this respect, the operators can also use QR code or download the form through the online link provided by Council so as to fill in the particulars online.
“Upon receiving the duly filled form and after verification process, the council would within seven days issue a Letter of Confirmation to this effect (Surat Perakuan Vaksinasi Covid-19),” said Yii. — DayakDaily
