USA’s Makaya McCraven, Sheila Majid among lineup for Borneo Jazz Festival 2024 from Nov 29-Dec 1

KUCHING, Oct 7: The Borneo Jazz Festival 2024 is set to be held from November 29 to December 1 at the Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club in Miri.

This year’s lineup includes renowned artists such as Makaya McCraven from the USA, Sheila Majid, Rio Sidik from Indonesia, The Clarinet Trio from Germany, The Shang Sisters, WVC Ensemble, Gerhana Skacinta, and Ta’Dan from Malaysia, with Prem Shanker from Hitz FM as the emcee.

Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this year’s festival is expected to attract jazz lovers from Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, and other countries.

According to him, the pouring numbers of visitors will help boost the tourism sector and local businesses, especially for those in the hotel industry.

“The number of visitors (for this event) is easily about 4,000,” he told a press conference held at Baitulmakmur Building 2 in Petra Jaya today.

Themed ‘Jazz Miri’, the Borneo Jazz Festival 2024, is organised by Miri City Council (MCC).

Among other activities lined up for the festival is the Battle of the Bands segment on December 1 for the Open category, featuring performances by local musicians to grow their musical talent alongside renowned local and international artists while also contributing to the growth of Miri as the region’s jazz centre.

Tickets for the Borneo Jazz Festival 2024 are now available via jazzborneo.com, miricouncil.gov.my, and deckworksevents.com.

For the early bird category, a one-day pass is priced at RM80 per ticket, two-day passes are RM150 per ticket, and third-day entry is free of charge. The early bird category ends on October 31.

From November onwards, the one-day pass will be priced at RM100 per ticket, the two-day pass at RM180 per ticket, and the third-day entry remains free of charge.
