Urda briefed on projects worth RM1.47b

KUCHING, May 21: Upper Rajang Development Agency (Urda) was briefed on the implementation of 37 infrastructure projects worth RM1.47 billion in a meeting today.

In this third Urda Board Meeting that was held here, those present were told that these 37 projects would be spread across 41,000 sq km.

“The area stretches from Kanowit, Song, Kapit, Bukit Mabong and Belaga District, represented by eight assemblymen and three MPs.

“Some of the contracts have been awarded, while more will be awarded within the next few months,” said Urda’s chairman Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing in a statement today.

Urda deputy chairman is Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Linggi Nanta.

Masing said the Board was told that all of the 37 projects would be at the ‘changkul’ (implementation) stage in 2020.

“The Board agreed to established Urda headquarters in Kapit. The site has been identified and is waiting for Recoda (Regional Corridor Development Authority) to endorse,” said Masing who is also Deputy Chief Minister.

All the elected representatives of the area under Urda and Recoda chief executive officer Datu Ismawi Ismuni were present at the briefing. — DayakDaily
