MIRI, March 7: Upgrading works involving three markets under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) are on schedule.

The three markets along Jalan Brooke are Miri Central Market, Miri Vegetarian Market and Unity Market. The total cost is RM318,000.

“For the Central Market, the 35 traders plying their trade there can resume their business this March 15, as the upgrading work is expected to be completed by March 14,” said Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting after visiting the project sites this morning.

Work on the other two markets, which also involves putting up new awnings, would be wrapped up by May.

Meanwhile, Ting said between 40 and 60 per cent of projects under the RTP initiative for Piasau constituency for the year 2018 had been implemented thus far. These include repairing school buildings and basic public facilities.

Accompanying Ting on his rounds today were Miri Hawker Association chairman Chong Khi Chong and its vice-chairman Pui Peck Hee. — DayakDaily
