MIRI, March 15: Miri City Council (MCC) has commenced upgrading works at Tamu Muhibbah, Tamu Khas and Pasar Besar Krokop starting March 1, 2021.
In a press statement today, MCC stated that the work would be carried out in phases.
On upgrading works at Tamu Muhibbah/Tamu Khas at Jalan Padang MBM, MCC said construction will last from March 1 to May 31, and involve two phases.
The first phase is from March 1 to April 22, involving upgrading works at Tamu Muhibbah. To allow the work to take place, the market will be closed from March 15 to April 22.
For Tamu Khas, the upgrading project will start from April 23 to May 31, and Tamu Khas will be closed from May 7 to 31.
“As for those stallholders who are affected by the construction works, the council will arrange for them to trade temporarily at the canopies (sic) which have been erected in front of the respective tamu and market,” said MCC.
The council had completed upgrading works at Miri Central Market and Miri Open Air Market earlier.
Meanwhile, the improvement project at Unity Cooked Food Centre still in progress.
According to plans, the council would carry the improvement or upgrading of 11 markets, tamu and cooked food centres this year pending final confirmation on certain fund allocations and technical issues to be resolved with regards to a few improvement projects. — DayakDaily
