KUCHING, Nov 15: Pesta Kebudayaan Apau Koyan, to be held this Dec 12-14, will attempt to create two Elite World Records—’The Largest Sape Sculpture Hand Crafted from Recycled Metal’ and ‘The Most Participants in a Traditional Orang Ulu Music and Dance Ensemble Performance’.

According to Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, for the first record, the sculpture will be made to measure 12.19 metres in length and weigh three tons using used motorcycle parts.

“The second one will involve 22 ethnic Orang Ulu tribes,” he said when debating the Sarawak Budget 2025 during the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Sitting today.

He added that the main objective of the attempt is to preserve the heritage of traditional music and culture of the Orang Ulu community as a domestic and international tourist attraction.

Pesta Kebudayaan Apau Koyan will be held at the Bakun Resettlement Scheme (BRS) in Sungai Asap, Belaga.

Elite World Records is a platform to showcase human feats, achievements, and unique events in all disciplines by publishing journals and registry of world records. — DayakDaily
