KUCHING, Dec 7: The short tourism video contest titled ‘Unveil The Land of Hornbill’ is a great opportunity for local talents, particularly video makers, to not only showcase the beauty of Sarawak but also share their observations through the lens about Sarawak’s Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food, and Festival (CANFF), says Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) permanent secretary Datu Hii Chang Kee.

Hii stated this in his speech today (Dec 7) at the prize-giving ceremony for the ‘Unveil The Land of Hornbill’ Sarawak Tourism short video contest, which was held at the Kuching Chinese General Chamber (KCGC) Innovation Hub here.

The contest, which was organised by the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS), received a total of 34 submissions, with eight being shortlisted and awarded prizes.

The first prize was awarded to Chong Ee Vei of Miri, who produced the video ‘Beautiful Sarawak’.

The second prize was awarded to Chai Teck Hua of Kuching, who produced the video ‘Sarawak, the Hidden Treasure’, and the third prize was awarded to Chin Ah Min of Kuching, who produced the video ‘Unveil the Land of Hornbill’s Islands’.

The first place prize winner took home RM10,000, with the second and third place winners receiving RM6,000 and RM3,000, respectively.

Meanwhile, five consolation prize winners each received RM500.

Also present at the event were ACCCIS secretary-general Dato Chai Voon Tok and Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) chief executive officer (CEO) Sharzede Salleh Askor. — DayakDaily
