University student faces death penalty for drug trafficking

KUCHING, Oct 17: A local final year university student was charged with trafficking 2.91 kilogrammes of cannabis in the Kuching High Court on Monday.

If convicted, she could face the death penalty.

The accused, Aziemah Mohamad Fuzzie could not afford to hire a counsel to defend her, and thus the court needed time to assign a counsel for her.


High Court judge Azhahari Kamal Ramli fixed Oct 22 for further mention.

The accused was charged with trafficking 2.910 kilogrammes of cannabis on March 19 at about 2.20pm at University Garden under Section 39B(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which is punishable under Section 39B(2). — DayakDaily
