KUCHING, Aug 30: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian has urged all leaders of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)’s component parties to be united to safeguard Sarawak from falling into the wrong hands.

Apart from SUPP, the other GPS component parties are Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).

“We have to be united. Now we have our own talents, money and infrastructures, we move forward together.

“Sarawak will have so much money in the near future that other people might want to steal from us,” said Dr Sim when officiating the Opar constituency election machinery and operation room at Kampung Tebaro, Jalan Lundu-Sematan today.

Dr Sim, who is also Minister for Local Government and Housing, said after 2023, Sarawak’s most glorious time would come because the budgets for 2018 to 2023 are expected to at least be doubled.

“Besides, all the infrastructure projects involving utilities, roads, bridges and so on will be completed after 2025.

“Sarawak also is starting to have everything on our own. We have our own banks, telecom, international schools and coast guides,” he added.

Meanwhile, SUPP Opar branch chairman Cr Niponi Undek expressed his confidence in SUPP to wrest Opar for GPS.

“Opar state constituency has until April, 2020, a total number of 11,385 voters.

“Out of this number, more than 80 per cent of them are Bidayuh whereas the rest consists of Iban, Chinese and Malays,” he said.

He also reiterated that as of now, SUPP Opar has visited more than 60 per cent of the total 58 kampungs in the Opar constituency.

“With that, we are ready in all aspects for the coming war in the state election.

“We are ever ready anytime,” said Niponi.-DayakDaily
