Unimas convocation: Abg Jo leads 4,103 to receive their scrolls

KOTA SAMARAHAN, Oct 29: A total of 4,103 graduates will be receiving their scrolls during the three-day convocation ceremony at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas).

The university’s 22nd convocation ceremony, which started this morning, was officiated at by its Chancellor, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Among those receiving their scrolls today was Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who was conferred an honorary PhD in Development Economics for his contributions to the state through his digital economy initiative.

He was joined by 67 other PhD graduates and 340 undergraduates.

Apart from that, 83 international graduates also received their scrolls, where 83 are PhDs, 20 master degrees and 46 bachelor degrees. The graduates are from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, Indonesia, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ghana, India, Iraq, Libya, Nigeria, USA and Vietnam. — DayakDaily
