Unifor to hold thanksgiving prayer ceremony in Bintulu on July 20 in conjunction with S’wak Day

KUCHING, July 12: The Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) will hold a thanksgiving prayer ceremony on July 20 in conjunction with the Sarawak Day 2024 celebration in Bintulu.

Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, who is also the event chairman, the event will be held at Bintulu Civic Center starting at 10am.

“We have invited about 500 participants from all faiths, including community leaders, heads of departments and agencies, and ministers and deputy ministers.

“The event will be graced by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also deputy chairman for the Unifor board of trustees,” he told a press conference held at the Unifor office here today.

Penguang said there would also be an Islamic thanksgiving prayer ceremony held on the same day at the Assyakirin Mosque in Bintulu.

“This particular occasion is significant because we are celebrating July 22, which is Sarawak Day, and we hope to see and make sure that unity is at its peak and becomes a pillar for Sarawak,” he added.

Meanwhile, on the Sarawak Day 2024 celebration, which will be held on July 22, Penguang said the main event will start at 6.30pm.

He also said that the guest of honour would be Head of the State (TYT) Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, including Cabinet members.

According to him, among the programmes lined up throughout the day during the Sarawak Day 2024 celebration on July 22 are a 15-kilometre bicycle fun run, the official opening ceremony for the Methanol Plant at Samalaju Industrial Park, a townhall session at UPM Bintulu Campus, and many others.
