KUCHING, July 20: Bintulu Member of Parliament (MP) Dato Sri Tiong King Sing handed over a cheque worth RM2 million to the Association of Churches Sarawak’s Bintulu branch today.

The funds were obtained following the Bintulu MP’s Service Centre’s successful application for Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) funding from the Sarawak government.

“The funds will be used by the association to upgrade the areas related to the Christian cemetery in Kuala Setiam.

“I hope that the beneficiaries will make full use of the funds for road upgrades and expanding parking space to take the increasing traffic volume into account and preempt any related issues that may arise,” said Tiong.

He also stressed that the churches should work based on open communication over the said matter so that the relevant road works can be carried out smoothly.

Tiong also called on the Association of Churches to continue to encourage its members over the age of 18 to get vaccinated against Covid-19 under various church programmes in an effort to accelerate the State’s vaccination rate. — DayakDaily
