“A LFRT (Light Fire Rescue Tender) vehicle with five firefighters, led by Boniface Empaya, was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival under the Tatau Bridge, Bomba and police personnel deployed a police-owned aluminium boat and travelled approximately 4km along the river to the reported location,” it said in a statement today.

The body was found lodged against the riverbank, as earlier reported by members of the public.

“Firefighters and police successfully retrieved the body onto the boat and transported it to the jetty at Pasar Lama Tatau.

“The body was then handed over to the police for further action. The identity of the deceased is still under investigation,” it added. — DayakDaily
