Unemployed woman in Kuching fined RM1,500 for causing hurt to boyfriend’s son

KUCHING, Sept 5: The Magistrate’s Court fined an unemployed woman RM1,500 for causing hurt to her boyfriend’s eight-year-old son because the victim had forgotten to close the refrigerator door.

Nurlyana Abdullah, 36, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries imprisonment of up to a year or a fine up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.

Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi convicted her as charged and sentenced her to a fine of RM1,500 in default of two months imprisonment.

She knocked the victim’s head against the wall after discovering that the victim had forgotten to close the refrigerator door after taking some water from it.

She committed the offence at her boyfriend’s house in Kampung Rudan Rayang at about 10am on August 27, 2021.

According to the brief facts of the case, the victim’s biological mother lodged the police report.

The complainant and the victim’s father are divorced and living separately. The victim is under the father’s custody as the complainant is an amputee due to diabetes.

The medical report of the victim by the Sarawak General Hospital revealed that the victim suffered injuries on his forehead and nose.

Prosecuting Officer Insp Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
