Unemployed man sentenced to 7 years’ jail for raping underage girl

KUCHING, July 15: The Sessions Court here sentenced an unemployed man to seven years’ imprisonment and two strokes of the rotan for raping an underage girl.

Sessions Court Judge Marutin Pagan accepted the accused’s guilty plea.


Marutin sentenced him to imprisonment of seven years and two strokes of the rotan. The jail term will start from the date of sentencing, which is today.

Nur Syukeri, 21, from Taman Malihah, was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl at Taman Sri Makmur, at about 12.30am on September 24, 2017.

He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code which carries an imprisonment term which may extend to twenty years and is also liable for whipping, if convicted.

According to the facts of the case, the accused and the victim got to know each other through social media application WeChat and the accused had sexual intercourse with the victim after they had been in a relationship for 7 days.

DPP Nor Azhari Yusof prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
