Unemployed man remanded in connection with chocolates, torch light theft

MIRI, April 13: An unemployed man suspected of stealing chocolates and a torch light from a convenience store on Friday were ordered to be remanded for three days to assist in police investigation.

Judge Md Syafique Md Hilmie meted out the remand order at the Magistrate’s Court here on Sunday.

It was alleged that the accused, from Padang Kerbau, Pujut, committed the offence at Ng Sian Yap at Piasau Industrial Estate on April 10, at around 3.40pm.

The accused, 22, was alleged to have stolen five packets of Dairy Milk (Black Forest) chocolates worth RM6.30 per packet, five Dairy Milk (Fruit Nut) chocolates selling at RM9 per packet and a torch light (RM36.50) from the convenience store.

It was understood that the act was caught by the store’s CCTV, prior to the arrest.

The accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
