Unemployed man gets 8 years, 4 strokes for armed gang robbery

KUCHING, Aug 19: Sessions Court here sentenced a jobless man to eight years’ imprisonment and 4 strokes of the cane for robbing a chicken farmer with a parang.

Raduan Bueng, 35, pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd Yusoff.


Judge Mohd Taufik accepted his plea of guilty and convicted him as charged. Judge Mohd Taufik sentenced him to imprisonment of 8 years and 4 strokes of the cane, imprisonment term to run from the date of his arrest, September 26, 2019.

He allegedly robbed a chicken farmer, Herryson Ho of his sling bag containing documents and RM20 in cash at a chicken farm with a parang in Tanjung Durian, Siniawan with two other persons who are still at large, at about 11.30 pm on August 1, 2019.

He was charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 397 and Section 34 of the same Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 20 years and liable to whipping, upon conviction.

The victim suffered the injury in his head and neck.

DPP Danial Ilham Kamaruddin prosecuted while the accused is unrepresented by counsel.—DayakDaily
