KUCHING, Nov 12: United Malays National Organisation (Umno) president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will not play any major role in the next Federal government, opines Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Information chief Dato Idris Buang.

He said the oldest party had split into five factions after it lost power in the last General Election (GE14).

“One of the factions will make sure that a new breed of people will come up. I don’t think Zahid will play any major role with the new forces in Umno.

“He (Zahid) may be the president but because he has some other unfinished business, thus I believe Umno will respect its members and voters’ (calls).

“They can choose the best of their leaders and the problematic leaders will have the possibility of being put aside.

“That is the natural progression for change for the better,” he told the press during a ‘chit chat’ session held at PBB Headquarters in Jalan Diplomatik here today.

While change is good, he chided Democratic Action Party (DAP) for excessively changing.

“I think DAP should name their party to ‘Parti Yang Berubah’ (party that changes).

“When it comes to election, they want to bring change to Malaysia but never brought change to Malaysia.

“When they came into power during the 22-month Pakatan Harapan administration, they themselves changed. That is the problem. They never kept their promises,” he added. — DayakDaily
