Uggah: Telang Usan receives additional RM500,000 for AgriCOP

BARAM, Oct 23: The Ministry of Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development has granted an additional RM500,000 for the Agriculture Community Outreach Programme (AgriCOP) in Telang Usan constituency.

Its minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said earlier on, a sum of RM2 million was allocated to implement various agriculture programmes and activities for this area.

“Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau has requested for additional funds for the same purpose. His constituency’s vast land size has huge agriculture potential for coffee, durian, pineapple, herbs and native eggplant (terong assam) cultivation.


“Apart from that, they can also do livestock (pig) breeding,” Uggah said during the Agriculture Community Outreach Programme (AgriCOP) closing ceremony at Kampung Long Loyang community hall today.

Uggah, who is Deputy Chief Minister also announced other grants such as RM40,000 to improve drainage at Long Anap padi field area, RM30,000 and RM10,000 respectively for Kampung Long Loyang JKKK and its Women Bureau.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Agriculture Department director Dr Alvin Chai said 250 villagers took part in the AgriCOP programme besides attending various courses on agriculture.

Chai also advised the villagers to embark on cluster farming for logistic advantages. —DayakDaily
