Uggah: New building for SK Nanga Gayau will be ready next year

KUCHING, March 20: The SK Nanga Gayau new RM7 million building near here is expected to be ready by January 2022.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said with a population of 128 students the school building which is situated by the side of the Pan Borneo Highway will be affected by the highway construction.

“The construction work for the new building started in July, last year, and the three-storey building comprises classrooms, teachers’ quarters, science laboratories, office and other structures,” he said during his visit to the school to check on its construction progress today.

Uggah, who is also Bukit Saban state assemblyman was accompanied by Betong member of parliament Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat, together with the political secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Richard Rapu during the visit.

Following that, both Uggah and Chuat also visited two longhouses to check on the rural transformation projects being implemented in the area.

Earlier Uggah also paid his last respect to Tuai Rumah Benedict Blaki anak Lawrence Sanggat at his longhouse at Tanjung Baru in Paku, near here.

The late Blaki, 56, was also a UKAS (state public communications unit) officer in Betong.

After falling sick on Thursday morning, he was admitted to the Betong District Hospital where he later passed away.

His funeral wake is held at his longhouse with strict compliance to the funeral and burial standard operating procedures (SOP) before his burial on Monday morning here. –DayakDaily.
