KUCHING, Jan 7: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas went to see Malaysia Pepper Board chairman Larry Sng Wei Shien today to discuss the current low prices for pepper.

Uggah, who is also Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development, agreed with Sng that the situation is badly affecting pepper farmers, especially smallholders.

Uggah and Sng are elected representatives of Betong and Julau respectively, which so happen to be the main pepper-producing areas in the state.
