SRI AMAN, Nov 7: Any differences or unfriendly feelings among Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties’ grassroots members should be sunk now, says deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

He said the crucial time had come for all party members to paddle together in one direction to win all 31 seats in the 15th General Election (GE15).

“We must campaign hard for all component parties’ candidates. Our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is GPS president, wants us all to double and redouble our efforts for the big win.

“A most convincing performance will put GPS in better bargaining power and position in its struggle to restore and protect more of its rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said in a meeting with the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) branches in Sri Aman division here today.

Uggah, who is GPS election director, said Sarawakians had all the reasons to support GPS.

“Our Abang Johari has shown himself to be a most visionary leader in thinking of ways to generate and increase the State coffers.

“And GPS’ stand, strength, and dignity is its philosophy of ‘Sarawak First’ in its struggle. So a vote for any GPS candidate is a vote for Abang Johari,” he added.

On the Opposition candidates, Uggah said they comprised party hoppers and those who talked big in the last 12th State election but failed miserably.

“There is no way we can rely on them for our future, so do not allow any of them to win and to take up root in our midst. In contrast, in GPS, we deliver what we talk about or promise,” he stated.

Uggah, who is also PBB deputy president, called on all party branches Statewide to organise themselves and to mobilise their machinery and workers to support members of GPS component parties and vice versa.

He also urged the 6,000 party members in the P202 Sri Aman seat to come out in full force to vote for the GPS candidate from Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie.

During a later visit with the PBB Bukit Saban branch at his Bukit Saban service centre in Spaoh, Uggah informed that Abang Johari would be visiting Spaoh on Nov 12, where he would hold a meet-the-people session at 2.30pm at the new Spaoh Sports Complex. — DayakDaily
