KUCHING, May 15: Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud hopes that the unity government can quickly resolve Sarawak’s claims.

Taib was referring to the claims with regards to Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) Report, the Constitution of Sarawak and the Federal Constitution.

“I also hope the federal government will continue to implement development in Sarawak.

“This is by improving the quality of health and education services, developing basic infrastructure, looking after the welfare of Sarawak and increasing the level of security, especially at the border areas,” he said when delivering his opening address at the First Meeting of the Second Session of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting at the DUN Complex here today.

In the meantime, he expressed confidence that the unity government under the leadership of Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim can develop the country to greater heights.

“I am happy that with the support of the Sarawak government, a unity government has been formed.

“A stable government can definitely bring prosperity to the people,” he added. — DayakDaily
