KUCHING, May 6: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, in his address at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) complex this morning, states that the Sarawak government should enact measures guaranteeing the safeguarding of individual privacy as well as the protection of users’ data and information.

In light of this, Wan Junaidi said that a thorough examination of legal parameters is essential in ensuring the safety and security of both the State and its citizens.

“With that, the scope and boundaries in terms of law need to be studied carefully for the safety of the State and the people of Sarawak,” he said.

As the Sarawak government continues its strides in intensifying the digital economy agenda to foster economic growth and modernisation, Wan Junaidi highlighted the importance of the population cultivating digital skills to harness technology for productivity effectively.

“With the widespread use of digital technology, I call for all citizens to be vigilant and raise awareness of cyber security threats,” said Wan Junaidi. — DayakDaily
