KUCHING, June 27: Two women allegedly offering massage services, were sentenced to three months in jail by the Magistrate’s Court today for stealing RM3,650 in cash from a 55-year-old male contractor.
In addition to the prison sentence, Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi also ordered Zalbia Sulai, 32, and Norma Hamid, 38, to each pay a fine of RM3,900 or serve an additional month in jail if they fail to pay the fine.
The two women pleaded guilty as charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, which carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison or a fine upon conviction.
They were jointly accused of committing the crime at a hotel on Jalan Ban Hock here on June 19, 2024, between 11am and 12pm.
Case facts reveal that the victim met a woman in front of a shopping mall on Jalan Power here, who offered body massage services for RM50 per hour.
The victim agreed to the woman’s offer and was taken to a hotel.
Upon arriving at the hotel room, the woman asked the victim to undress and clean himself before the massage session.
However, after cleaning himself, the victim discovered that the woman was no longer in the room and further inspection revealed that RM3,650 in cash, kept in his pants pocket, was missing.
The victim lodged a police report, which led to the arrests of Zalbia and Norma on June 19 and 20, 2024, respectively.
Investigations found that Zalbia and Norma had stolen the victim’s cash. During the arrest, the two women returned part of the stolen money.
The prosecution was conducted by Inspector Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin, while the two women were not represented by counsel. — DayakDaily
