Two seriously injured after ambulance crashes into trailer lorry in Betong

BETONG, Sept 9: Two medical staff were seriously injured after their ambulance crash into a trailer lorry at Jalan Memaloi here this morning.

According to a report by Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received a distress call regarding the incident at 4.24am before despatching a team from Betong Fire Station (BBP) to the scene.

Operation commander Abang Muhammad Fhazil Abang Abdul Manaf said the ambulance hit the back of a trailer lorry that was parked by the road side.

Following the impact, the driver and a nurse sustained serious injuries.

“Both victims were extricated from the vehicle by passersby before Bomba’s arrival.

“The nurse was rushed to Betong Hospital while the driver was sent to Sri Aman Hospital for further action,” he said. — DayakDaily
