Two remanded four days to assist investigation into false claim worth almost RM1 mln

Both suspects were remand four days to assist in MACC investigations.

KUCHING, June 24: The Magistrate’s Court here remanded a project manager of a nursery company and an agricultural department assistant officer for four days to assist in the investigation of a false claim worth RM999,973.50.

The 57-year-old project manager and the 46-year-old assistant officer were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the MACC office here at about 3pm on June 23.

They were brought before the Magistrate’s Court to apply for remand.

Magistrate Zaiton Anuar allowed the MACC to remand both suspects for four days until June 28 to assist in the investigation of this case.

They were suspected of making false claims to Sarawak Land Development Board (SLDB) in regards to the supply of 28,805 Musang King seedlings worth RM999,973.50 to Lambir DUN area in December 2019.

One of the suspects had received the full payment from SLDB to supply the seedlings but did not provide the full service as promised. The other suspect was suspected of helping with the documents to make the said claim from SLDB.

The case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009. — DayakDaily
