Two new clusters in Lundu and one cluster in Tatau see a total of 70 test positive for Covid-19

KUCHING, Aug 5: A total of 70 people tested positive for Covid-19 from two new Covid-19 clusters in Lundu and one in Tatau.

According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the Kampung Pueh Cluster and the Kampung Sebat Melayu Cluster were two new clusters identified in Lundu.


The Kampung Pueh Cluster which involved a longhouse located at Jalan Lundu-Sematan saw 12 people testing positive for Covid-19 while the Kampung Sebat Melayu Cluster involving a village located on the same road saw 39 villagers tested positive for coronavirus.

On the other hand, there were 19 people from a longhouse in Nanga Serenggas, Ulu Anap, Tatau who tested positive for Covid-19.

SDMC said the longhouse has been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

All Covid-19 patients from the new clusters in Lundu and Tatau have been admitted to health facilities in Kuching and Bintulu for treatment.

Meanwhile, five new clusters were declared in Sarawak including two new clusters in Kuching namely the Kampung Seratau Cluster and the Kampung Bintawa Ulu Cluster.

In the meantime, the Sungai Kotak Cluster in Meradong, Tanjong Lelengau Cluster in Pakan, Luteng Cluster in Telang Usan and Blimbing Cluster in Bau were declared ended.

With five new clusters formed and four ended, there are 90 active clusters in Sarawak out of which 20 reported 261 new cases today. — DayakDaily
