Two men, two Vietnamese women detained in RM69,810 drug bust

MIRI, Feb 10: Two men and two Vietnamese women were arrested in a drug bust involving RM69,810 at Kampung Lopeng Tengah here on Saturday.

Acting on intelligence report, Sarawak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) chief, Supt Hasnir Abdul Hamid, said police arrested a 41-year-old male suspect and a 24-year-old Vietnamese national nearby the entrance of a condominium at Jalan Riam.

After a body search, police found one transparent plastic packet with crystalised substance, believed to be methamphetamine (0.35 gramme), inside the pants pocket of the male suspect.


“Both suspects brought the police to a condominium unit at Jalan Riam in Kampung Lopeng Tengah and arrested the third suspect, a 25-year-old female from Vietnam, inside one of the condominium unit’s room.

“Police also found 23 transparent plastic packets with cystalised substance weighing 1,117 gramme, including a blue plastic container containing an empty plastic packet and a digital weighing scale inside the room, believed to be used for packaging the drugs,” he said in a statement today.

The arrest of the three suspects led to another police team arresting the fourth suspect, a 39-year-old male, who was inside a vehicle at the same location, at 1pm the same day.

After an inspection inside the vehicle, a transparent container wrapped with  red-coloured cello tape containing crystalised substance with an estimate weight of 2.20 gramme was found.

“After further inspection, police found a car key, to which the suspect informed that it was the key for a vehicle parked next to the suspect’s vehicle.

“One transparent container was found inside the vehicle containing two transparent plastic packets with crystalised substance believed to be methamphetamine (2.88 gramme) and two tablets believed to be Erimin 5 (0.47 gramme),” he continued.

All the suspects were brought to Miri NCID for further action.

Among the items confiscated were a gold necklace and a pendant, two golden ring, RM23,437 in cash (mixed of Malaysian ringgit and Brunei dollar notes) and one luxury and sedan car worth RM109,495. The seized drugs were estimated to be worth RM69,810.

All the suspect were arrested under Section 39B, Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1951. — DayakDaily
