KUCHING, June 29: Two men have been remanded for four days to assist in investigations for allegedly using criminal force and obstructing Sarawak Forest Department enforcement officers from carrying out their lawful duties in Telang Usan.
They are being investigated under Section 103 of the Forests Ordinance for obstructing public servants, as well as Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
According to the Sarawak Forest Department, the incident took place on Saturday (June 28) when a group of individuals, including the suspects, used force against enforcement personnel who were carrying out their duties.
The suspects allegedly assaulted and injured the officers and issued verbal threats during the confrontation.
A third suspect reportedly fled the scene and is currently being sought by authorities.
If convicted, the suspects face a fine of not less than RM25,000 and not more than RM150,000, or a jail term of up to seven years, or both.
The public has been reminded not to obstruct, intimidate, or injure public officers while they are lawfully discharging their duties. — DayakDaily
