Two men nabbed in separate cases for transporting RM200,000 in fuel without legal documents

SIBU, Oct 19: A total of 400 litres of petrol valued at about RM120,800 was seized from a local man in Bintulu by Bintulu Marine Force (PPM) W5, yesterday.

A team of five officers from the Bintulu PPM W5 Intelligence Unit stopped a four-wheel drive vehicle together with one male driver along Jalan Sibiyu heading towards Bintulu town.

An inspection revealed two blue plastic barrels loaded with petrol of about 400 litres were being transported by the driver in the vehicle.

The suspect however failed to produce any legal documentation for transporting the fuel and was arrested under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

In a related case, a local man was also arrested with 400 litres of diesel without proper documentation by the Sibu Marine Force (PPM) W5 on the same day.

Seven officers from the Sibu PPM W5 Intelligence Unit stopped a male driver in a four-wheel drive vehicle at Jalan Helang 3A. Upon inspection, they found 20 jerrycans inside the vehicle believed to filled with about 400 litres of diesel.

The suspect failed to produce any purchase or transport documentation for the diesel which is estimated to be valued at about RM70,872.

He was arrested, and the vehicle, together with the diesel confiscated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

Both cases were handed over to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) for further investigation. — DayakDaily
