KUCHING, June 15: Two men were killed after a heavily loaded van they were travelling in overturned in a self-accident at KM16 of Jalan Pan Borneo Sibu-Bintulu early yesterday morning (June 14).
According to a TVS news report, Tatau District Police Chief DSP Jame Reis said the incident occurred around 7.30am, and both victims were thrown from the vehicle.
“The victims, aged 18 and 24, were pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry medical personnel from Tatau,” he said in a statement today.
Preliminary investigations found the van was heading from Tatau to Bintulu when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Members of the public are urged not to speculate or spread unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic.
