Two men detained for threatening to kill lorry driver

The shotgun seized from the suspects.

KANOWIT, March 27: Police have apprehended two men yesterday after they threatened to kill a lorry driver with a shotgun over an extramarital affair.

Kanowit district police chief, DSP Tega Bilong said the arrest of the two men aged 45 and 55 was made at 10pm after the 55-year-old victim lodged a report.

He said that the victim claimed that while on his way home at Nanga Bat at about 5pm on March 25, a car suddenly pulled over and stopped abruptly in front of his motorcycle.

“As he was scared, he quickly ran away. The victim had at the same time received a text message that her husband was going to kill him with a gun,” said DSP Tega.

He added that the initial investigation revealed that the 45-year old suspect was angry as the victim had an affair with his wife when he was away working in Solomon Island for two years.

“After arresting the suspects we have also seized the homemade shotgun which belonged to the 55-year old suspect,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 8 (C) of the Firearm Act 1960. -DayakDaily
