Two men arrested for suspected drug-related offences

The drugs seized from two suspects arrested in a budget hotel.

MIRI, Dec 14: Two local men suspected of involvement in drug activities were arrested while attempting to evade police on Friday (Dec 13) at a budget hotel on Jalan Nahkhoda Gampar here.

Police officers from the Miri District Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) nabbed the suspects, aged 23 and 39, on the first floor of the budget hotel at about 10.45am.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, who confirmed the arrest, revealed that the team also seized drugs worth around RM200 and a smartphone of one of the suspects.

“During a body check carried out, police have found one plastic bag containing three pink tube straws and three blue tube straws believed to be Syabu weighing at 1.40 gramme,” he said.

Both men tested positive for Syabu and were currently being placed under police custody for questioning.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.— DayakDaily
