KUCHING, Feb 2: A motorcyclist and his pillion were injured when their motorcycle plunged into a collapsed road at KM16 Melukun-Ng Mujung Road, Kapit early this morning.
Kapit police chief DSP Freddy Bian when contacted by DayakDaily confirmed the case and said the victims received treatment from Kapit hospital.
“Both were injured in the accident but have received treatment,” said Freddy.
In DayakDaily earlier report this morning, Kapit Public Works Department (PWD) Divisional Engineer Ir Bujang Kanang said the massive landslide measures about 50 metres wide and with a depth of about 10 metres had happened last night.
The landslide has cut off Ng Mujong area from Kapit Town.
PWD is constructing a temporary diversion.
Meanwhile, when contacted today, Balleh Assemblyman Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing assured the people that the that PWD will make a temporary road diversion before a permanent solution would be made.
He also assured that the government will repair the road soonest possible and funding will not be a problem.
“Luckily Kapit District is under MCO and thus no one is using the road last night. And PWD is now on site to close the road, while repair is going on,” said Masing, who is also Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development. — DayakDaily
