Two elderly individuals perish in garage workshop fire in Kuching

KUCHING, March 2: Two elderly individuals tragically lost their lives after a fire engulfed a garage workshop in Mile 4 ½ along Jalan Datuk Bandar Mustapha yesterday.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, they received call regarding the incident at 4.01pm and rushed Bomba Batu Lintang and Bomb Tabuan Jaya to the location.

The operation commander reported that the garage workshop was completely destroyed by the flames, along with 12 other vehicles parked on the premises.


The two victims, an elderly man aged 70 and a woman aged 60, who resided in the premise, were believed to have been trapped inside and were found deceased after firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze.

The bodies of the victims were discovered in the living room and bedroom, and were later handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
