SRI AMAN, Nov 17: Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian visited Chinese shopkeepers in Simanggang to stir support for Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) candidate for P202 Sri Aman Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie.

Dr Sim and Doris spent more than an hour going from door-to-door to meet the shopkeepers and rally support for the GPS candidate as well as urging voters to exercise their democratic right on Nov 19.

The walkabout was also an opportunity for the local Chinese community to meet and get to know the GPS P202 Sri Aman candidate.

Later, when meeting local Chinese community leaders at a restaurant here, Dr Sim stressed the importance of GPS winning in P202 Sri Aman.

“The Chinese community in Simanggang and the whole of Sri Aman must not be bystanders but must give the mandate to the GPS candidate (Doris).

“By winning 31 seats in the 15th General Election (GE15), the Sarawak government will have a stronger voice in Parliament. We can fight for our autonomy and what is rightfully ours as enshrined in Malaysia Agreement (MA63),” he said.

“The candidate for P202 Sri Aman is very experienced, and we must support and give her the mandate.”

Dr Sim, who is also the president of Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) urged the Chinese community not to lose the opportunity to ensure victory for GPS and Doris.

There are almost 7,000 Chinese voters in the Sri Aman constituency.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development II, and State assemblyman for N32 Simanggang Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts II, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, who is also the State assemblyman for N30 Balai Ringin. — DayakDaily
