Two clusters contribute 96 of Sarawak’s record 353 new Covid-19 cases

KUCHING, Feb 24: The Sungai Bakong Cluster in Meradong and Emperoh Jambu Cluster in Padawan contributed 96 out of the record-breaking total of 353 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak today.

The 353 cases represents the highest daily total of new cases recorded in the state since the pandemic started last year.

By cluster, Sg Bakong registered the highest number of cases, with 65. The total number of cases in the cluster is now 122. A total of 621 individuals have been tested with 240 found to be negative while the results of 259 are still pending.

There was an increase of 31 new cases in the Emperoh Jambu Cluster, leading to a total of 101 cases linked to the cluster. Out of a total of 209 individuals tested so far, 66 were found to be negative while 120 are awaiting test results.

The Gelong Cluster in Kapit saw an increase of 14 cases today, pushing the total tally linked to this cluster to 105.

For the Jalan Muhibbah Cluster, there are an increase of five cases, increasing the cluster’s total to 23 cases while the Geronggang Cluster in Sibu, Kampung Sungai Maong Cluster in Kuching, and Pasai Cluster in Sibu all registered one new case each.

There are still 25 active clusters in Sarawak. Apart from the seven clusters with new cases today, the remaining 18 clusters did not register any new cases.

These clusters are Jalan Green Cluster (Kuching), Kelatau Cluster (Sri Aman), Jan Yong Cluster (Kapit), Mas Merah Cluster (Sibu), Univista Cluster (Samarahan), Kidurong Dua Cluster (Bintulu), Nanga Lijan Cluster (Julau), Seruas Cluster (Beluru), Sebangkoi Cluster (Sri Aman), Jun Heng Cluster (Bintulu), Bintang Daily Cluster (Meradong), Jalan Pengiran Cluster (Matu), Tabong Cluster (Bau), Indah Riang Cluster (Kuching), Bedayan Cluster (Serian), Rakut Cluster (Miri), Bukit Sekibong Sebauh Cluster (Sebauh) and Jelita Cluster (Miri). — DayakDaily
