Two arrested for transporting 60 crates of beer in Bau during MCO

BAU, April 19: Police arrested two men for not complying with the Movement Control Order (MCO) and allegedly transporing 60 crates of beer at Jalan Tasik Biru this morning.

The duo, a Malaysian and an Indonesian, were spotted in a van while police were conducting checks and monitoring the said area at about 11.30am.

Bau police district chief DSP Poge Nyaon in a statement disclosed both men failed to provide any reason as to why they were on the road.

“They also failed to show any legal documents to sell or buy the 60 crates of beer. Both were arrested under Section 186 of the Penal Code, Section 11 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Areas 2020), Section 135 (1)(d) Excise Act 1976, Section 15 (1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Customs Act 1967,” Poge revealed, adding that the beer was also seized.

Police are investigating and they will submit their investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action. — DayakDaily
