KUCHING, May 20: Additional revenue obtained by Sarawak in the last few years under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s leadership have expedited development in all areas in the region.

Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the Sarawak government has been able to address numerous long-standing issues that elected representatives in Sarawak brought up.

“In the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting, we observed Honorable Members who shared successes that were achieved in resolving issues in their constituencies.

“The development that was implemented was able to be done swiftly and even faster than before. This was because of the additional income by Sarawak, which was channelled towards development.

“Under the leadership of the Premier, embarking on new areas of the economy based on green technology, Sarawak garnered an income of RM11.9 billion, which is the highest in Malaysia,” he said.

He said this when officiating at Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri Kejiranan Mesra (KJM) DUN Tupong at Surau Darul Rahman Taman Won here today.

Fazzrudin, also Chief Political Secretary to the Premier, said the revenue obtained was distributed to all areas in the state for development purposes and to fund initiatives such as assistance and programmes.

“This has benefited the people of Sarawak. The funds are not only channelled to the constituency of Tupong or the parliamentary constituency of Petra Jaya but to all 82 constituencies in the region.

“Obtaining additional income was done by the Premier since he took office, including thinking of new ways to develop Sarawak. In the end, he was successful, and all feel the benefit,” he said.

On another note, Fazzrudin presented a grant of RM13,000 for minor upgrading works of the outdoor stage, fencing, as well as a female ‘wuduk’ (to wash oneself before prayer) area when attending Tan Sri Datuk Haji Mohamed primary school’s ‘Ramah Mesra Aidilfitri’.

At the programme, he also launched the school’s newly completed basketball court and toured the school’s facilities. — DayakDaily
