KUCHING, Feb 27: Interim Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is reportedly returning to his post as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu)’s chairman.
Quoting Bersatu secretary general Datuk Marzuki Yahya, Bernama reported that Dr Mahathir had agreed to resume the post of chairman for the party.
When Dr Mahathir resigned on Feb 24, he resigned as prime minister as well as from his party position.
His resignation was accepted by the King who appointed him as interim prime minister to ensure the country’s administration continued to run before a new prime minister was appointed.
Meanwhile, it is also being reported that Dr Mahathir met the King again today.
The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that he was summoned to meet Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at 11am.
He was seen to have spent an hour in the palace and waved at reporters in the gate area.
Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat was also reported to have been summoned by the King. —DayakDaily
