KUCHING, Nov 13: Tumbukan Emas (Golden Punch), a local film inspired by the life of Sarawakian boxing legend Major Sapok Biki, is now in its final stage of production.
Director Mohammad Ghazali Jeman, better known as Jalot Jeman, told DayakDaily via WhatsApp that the movie—his first-ever feature film—is expected to be screened in cinemas nationwide once completed.
“This is the first official teaser for Tumbukan Emas film, which has gone viral on social media.
“The film is inspired and reimagined from the true story of Major Sapok Biki, the first Malaysian to win a gold medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games,” Jalot said.
He added that as a proud Sarawakian, it is an honour for him to direct this debut feature.
“The film is now in its final stage of production. Let us all pray that it will achieve box office success,” he expressed.
The 33-second official teaser, recently released online, features Sarawak’s rising boxing star Daeloniel ‘Kilat Boy’ Mcdelon Bong as Sapok Biki. In the short clip, he is seen catching his breath between rounds while receiving words of encouragement from his coach—a scene believed to depict one of Sapok’s international bouts representing Malaysia.
Adding to the film’s emotional weight, singer Aweera will perform two original soundtracks titled Wira and Kau Ada, both composed by Jalot himself.
