“Don’t play play”: Trio in Sibu fined RM6,000 for riding in a vehicle

SIBU, June 15: Three men were compounded RM2,000 each for flouting the standard operating procedure (SOP) laid down by the authorities for the present Movement Control Order (MCO).

The trio found to be in the same car which is forbidden by the SOP which allows only two persons in a vehicle for this lockdown period that has been extended to June 28, 2021.

Sibu District Deputy Chief of Police SUPT Collin Babat said the three individuals aged between 36 and 58 were caught in an Ops Covid-19 inspection carried out at 9.30 am.

“While carrying out duties around Jalan Pelangi, we inspected the car and found that the number of individuals in the vehicle was three, which exceeded the capacity set by the National Security Council (MKN),” he added.

He said a compound of RM2,000 was issued by ASP Kushairy Bujang to the three individuals in accordance with Regulation 12 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Infected Areas) Regulations 2021.
